February 17, 2026 Annular Solar Eclipse
February 17
This is the first of two solar eclipse events for 2026. The path of annularity, from which the eclipse can be seen as a ring of fire, passes over Antarctica and the Pacific Ocean. There are no islands of any significant size in the path of annularity. Observers in the southernmost parts of South America will see a very small partial eclipse with a few percent coverage of the sun, while those in the southern portions of Africa can view a more significant, partial eclipse with up to about 50 percent coverage of the sun.
